ESR Upgrades Digital Quaker Collection Website

ESR recently upgraded the website which houses the Digital Quaker Collection (DQC). Built about 8 years ago, the DQC gives ESR Access students a connection to the same quality information as our residential students have on campus at Earlham's Lilly Library.

Earlier this year, ESR Dean Jay Marshall contracted with Unlimited Priorities Corporation to do some much-needed maintenance to the DQC site. In addition to updating the search engine, the server environment also needed an upgrade. Unlimited Priorities Corporation made several improvements to the DQC, including updates for a UNIX/LINUX server, improvements to the search engine for proximity ranges, a reload of data to support updated versions of eXist and Lucene, and software updates for Tomcat, Java, and Saxon XSLT processing.

These changes to the Digital Quaker Collection will make it more accessible from a distance, enhancing the educational experience for ESR Access students, as well as making this information more readily available to all who utilize the site.
