20:4 And I saw thrones [GT: seats] , and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped [G: did not worship] the beast, neither his image, neither had received [GBT: taken] his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

MFU 144 (1655): the power is over you, and under the chain thou art which chains the dragon [Rev 20:1f], which gives thee thy power [Rev 13:2], but he is coming to be cast out into the earth [Rev 12:13]. Thy time is short & therefore doth thou rage [Rev 12:12].
GF5:107 (1655): And know one another in the life, (ye that be turned to the light,) and in the power, which comes from the Lord Jesus Christ, who is your light, who is your life; that ye may all in the life see Christ to reign in you, who is the truth, from whence ye have light. Here the old serpent is chained, and put into the bottomless pit [Rev 20:2f], and Christ is known to reign, and ye to reign with him [Rev 20:4]; heirs with him, joint-heirs, and heirs of God [Rom 8:17].

GFJN 443f: [The devil] was called a serpent [Gen 3:1] before he was called a devil and an adversary [1 Pet 5:8]. And then he had the title of Devil given to him because he was a destroyer; and after, he was called a dragon [Rev 20:2].
JN2:256 (1655): ...as Satan is discovered with his lies and filthiness, so shall the light of Christ and the infallible Spirit be advanced, which discovers all inventions new and old, and all Satan's mysterious actings, whereby you cannot long continue in your forms and changeable ways, invented lies and slanders, whereby the nation is deceived, which deceivers with him are for the bottomless pit [Rev 20:3].
JN1 291f (1654): And thou saith, "You are not yet come to the first resurrection [Rev 20:5f], to the new heaven and the new earth, wherein dwells righteousness [2 Pet 3:13]." And here be thou witness against thyself and thy church, who are yet in the fall and habitation of unrighteousness, a cage of unclean birds [Rev 18:2], wherein the old earth and heaven is yet standing.
GF8:76 (1675): So blessed are they, and you, that come to have part in the first resurrection, that on you the second death may have no power [Rev 20:6]; and such as do, they know a dying to sin [Rom 6:10] here, and putting off the body of sin [Col 2:11] and death [Rom 7:24], and a crucifying the old man [Rom 6:6], with his affections and lusts [Gal 5:24]; and a putting him off [Eph 4:22, Col 3:9], and to be dead from the rudiments of the world [Col 2:8.20]: and so they that "die with Christ, shall live with him [Rom 6:8]"; and they that are risen with Christ [Col 3:1], can never touch, taste, nor handle [Col 2:21] the doctrines, commandments, and dead rudiments of men of the world [Col 2:22,20].... [more]
JN1:20,222 (1653): But flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption, for we shall all be changed [1 Cor 15:50f]. But they who cannot witness the first resurrection [Rev 20:6] within themselves know nothing of the second but by hearsay.
JSS 63: The "first resurrection" is Christ; and therefore, every soul in whom the new birth, the begotten of God, is brought forth, has "part in the first resurrection." [Rev 20:6] This is out of the power of death, and in the spring of life forever; for Christ, the begotten, triumphs over death, as well as in all the seed, in all his joint-heirs [Rom 8:17] and brethren, as in one prepared body [Heb 10:5]. (See also under John 11:25)
20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom [GBT: whose number] is as the sand of the sea. qtext
20:9 And they went up on [G: into; B: in] the breadth [GBT: plain] of the earth, and compassed the camp [GBT: tents] of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and [B: omits; T: were, and] shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever [GBT: evermore]. qtext

GF8:44 (1672): Friends, the truth is above all, and will stand over all [1 Esd 4:35-41] them that hate it, who labour in vain against it, and will bring their old house on their own heads [Psa 127:1?], to their great trouble; and ... their sparks and candles are gone out [Job 18:5f], and hail and storms lighteth upon the head of the wicked [Jer 23:19], then wo will be to Gog and Magog [Rev 20:8], and to all the wicked [Isa 3:11], who have no covering [Job 26:6?]. In Christ you have peace, in the world you have trouble [John 16:33].
JN1:366 (1654): Now that the Lord Jesus Christ is appearing in his saints to discover the man of sin with all his deceits and deceivable workings [2 Th 2:3], as is foretold in the Scriptures; now all the powers of darkness are gathering together against him, Gog and Magog, whose number is as the sand of the sea for multitude [Rev 20:8]; but it is that the Scripture of truth [Dan 10:21] may be fulfilled, according to the prophets, concerning those heathen who know nothing of God and Christ, and their raging imaginations against the kingdom of the holy one [Psa 2:1f].
JN1:58 (1653): ...thou shalt be cast out of heaven, and thy angels into the earth [Rev 12:9], and thou shalt be chained in the bottomless pit and shalt deceive the nations no more [Rev 20:3]; for thou art discovered, and the beast and the false prophet by whom thou hast maintained wars against the saints, and you shall all be cast into the lake that burneth, there to be tormented forever [Rev 20:10].
20:11 And I saw a great white throne [T: seat], and him [G: one] that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them [GBT: their place was no more found].
20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great [GBT: both great and small], stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out [GBT: omit] of those things which were written in the books, according to their works [BT: deeds]. qtext
20:13 And the sea gave up the [GBT: her] dead which were in it [GBT: her] ; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works [BT: his deeds]. qtext
20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. qtext

MFU 211 (1656): now let the earth give up her dead, & hell give up her dead, & let all come to judgment, & let death & hell be cast into the lake [Rev 20:13f] & freely offer that which is for the sword to the sword [Jer 15:2?] & that which is for the fire to the fire, so that the dead may rise, for what avails it else, for you to make a form & profession of the living truth if the dead rise not [1 Cor 15:15f]?

EQ 114 (James Nayler, 1658): Christ has a war with his enemies, to which he calls his subjects to serve him against all the powers of darkness of this world [Eph 6:12], and all things of this old world, the ways and fashions of it will he overturn, and all things will he make new [Rev 21:5], which the god of this world [2 Cor 4:4] has polluted, and where his children have corrupted themselves, and do service to the lust, and devourer.
GF8:167 (1679): So the believers do feel a living spring springing up in them to eternal life [John 4:14], from the fountain from whence it cometh. And so here all the true believers have the upper and the nether springs [Josh 15:19] in themselves; and such may drink freely and eat freely of the bread and water of life [John 6:35, Rev 21:6], and do hunger and thirst no more, but eat and drink that which is eternal, which nourisheth them up to eternal life, and so bear heavenly spiritual fruits, to the praise of the eternal God [Phil 1:11]; which plants he hath watered by his upper and nether springs, which trees or plants, their fruits are unto holiness [Rom 6:22], and their end is everlasting life.
MFU 350 (1661): [God] is no respecter of persons; but every nation that fears & worketh righteousness is accepted of him [Acts 10:34f] whose call is to everyone that thirsteth [Isa 55:1]. Come & whoever is athirst let him drink of the water of life freely [Rev 21:6]....
IP1:140 (1659): The living water [John 4:10f], the living blood, runs not in any of the streets of this city, so there can be no true cleansing there. Nay, such strangers are the choicest inhabitants of Babylon to the fountain of life in Sion [Rev 21:6], to the river that cleanseth and healeth [Rev 22:1], that they cannot so much as believe that there is a possibility of cleansing and perfect healing, and making sound and whole here, while on earth.

The joy of the morning is come [Psa 30:5]. The bride, the Lamb's wife [Rev 21:9], is making herself ready, as a bride that is adorning for her husband [Rev 21:2]. To her is granted that she shall be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white, and the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints [Rev 19:8]. GF7:55 (1653): He is the head of the body, he is the head of the church [Col 1:18], who hath blotted out the ordinances [Col 2:14] and traditions of men; who is the end of the daily sacrifice; who is the end of the Levitical priesthood [Heb 7:27,24]; he is the end of all outward temples [Rev 21:22], who is the substance of the prophets, for they all witnessed of him [Acts 10:43].
WPR 236 (WPT 48, 1669): And the city had no need of the sun, for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb (Christ) is the light thereof [Rev 21:23], by which the oneness of the nature of these lights plainly appears; for since God is not God without his own glory, and that his glory lightens (which it could never do if it were not light), and that the Lamb, or Christ, is that very same light, what can follow, but that Christ the Light and God the Light are one pure and eternal Light?
GF7:246 (1664): And all they that are saved walk in the light of the Lamb, and so come to the holy city [Rev 21:23f], that comes down from God out of heaven [Rev 3:12], into which there is no unclean thing enters [Rev 21:27]; in which city there is no need of the sun nor moon, the Lord God and the Lamb is the light thereof [Rev 21:23].

WPR 349 (1673): We therefore exhort all to await for God's arising, that his enemies may be scattered, that witnessing a victorious state over hell and death, by the power of Christ Jesus, such may obtain the new name [Rev 2:17], which is written in the Lamb's book of life [Rev 21:27], and promised to all that overcome.

GF7:319 (1668): And man and woman in their not doing, nor scraping, and bowing, are not unmannerly, nor uncivil; for man was forbidden by the angel to bow to him, but to bow to God [Rev 22:9], and to worship him, and to bow at the name of Jesus [Phil 2:10], who is called, the power of God [1 Cor 1:24], and the word of God [Rev 19:13]; for the angel said to John, he was his fellow-servant [Rev 22:8f]. So servants were not to bow one to another; and if they do, is it not reproved by the angel, and reproved by Christ, the seeking honour one of another? For "how can you believe, saith Christ, that receive honour one of another?" [John 5:44]
RBA 445, RBAF 404 (1678, XV.6): Yea, we see that the angel twice refused this kind of bowing from John [Rev 19:10, Rev 22:8f] for this reason, "because I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren"; abundantly intimating that it is not lawful for fellow-servants thus to prostrate themselves one to another (and in this respect all men are fellow-servants).

MFS 77 (1666): Revelations 22:17 [saith]: "The Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come.'" So is not the bride the church? Does the church only consist of men? You that deny women's speaking, answer: does it not consist of women, as well as men? Is not the bride compared to the whole church? Does not the bride say, "Come"? Does not the woman speak then, the husband, Christ Jesus, the Amen [Rev 3:14]? Does not the false church go about to stop the bride's mouth? But it is not possible, for the bridegroom is with his bride. He opens her mouth. Christ Jesus – who goes on conquering, and to conquer [Rev 6:2], who kills and slays with the sword which is the word of his mouth [Rev 19:21] – the Lamb and the saints shall have the victory [Rev 17:14, Dan 7:21f], the true speakers of men and women over the false power.

Why should any man exclude himself? The call is universal, the way is set open to all. That is at hand which hath life and power in it, and is ready to work in all.

RBA 84 (III.9, 1678): [In this section , 81-84 Barclay discusses the question of the canon] And lastly as to these words [quotes Rev 22:18], I desire they will show me how it relates to anything else than to that particular prophecy. It saith not, "now the canon of the scriptures is filled up, no man is to write more from that Spirit"; yea, do not all confess that there have been prophecies and true prophets since? ... [Quotes Prov 30:6 and Deut 4:2, argues that scriptures continued to be written afterwards] So that though we should extend that of the Revelation beyond the particular prophecy of that book, it cannot be understood but of a new gospel, or new doctrines, or of restraining man's spirit, that he mix not of his human words with the divine; and not of a new revelation of the old, as we have said before.
GF7:206 (1661): The word of God cannot be bound [2 Tim 2:9], which makes rich, which lives for ever; in which is the life. So, do not quench the spirit [1 Th 5:19], nor add to the prophecy, nor diminish; that keeps you from the plagues, and to see your names written in the Lamb's book of life [Rev 22:18f]: there stands your joy everlasting, through which ye see the white stone [Rev 2:17], through which light, power, and seed, ye overcome that which is gone forth from God. So, ye dwelling in the son of God, ye shall go no more forth [Rev 3:12], but shall inherit all things.
JN1:95 (1653): do you not draw people to those things which there is no Scripture for? Telling them of a sacrament, for which there is no Scripture, telling them of sprinkling infants, which there is no Scripture for, telling people they are ordinances; all such ordinances we deny; but the ordinances of God we own. And doth not the scripture say, he that adds or diminishes, the plagues are added unto him [Rev 22:18f]? (More under Mat 10:22)
IP4:147 (1671): Those who are unlearned and unstable in the mystery of truth, are wresters of Scripture [2 Pet 3:16]. They cannot understand things as they are, not having the key; and so they wrest them, and strive to make them speak, as they apprehend and would have them. And here in this state, in this wisdom, is both adding to, and diminishing from, the holy words of truth [Rev 22:18f]; for in many places they add of their own conceivings, and in other places diminish from the drift and intent of God's Spirit.
WPR 599 (WPT 400, 1694): It is one of the dreadful sayings in the book of God, that he that adds to the words of the prophecy of this book, God will add the plagues written in this book [Rev 22:18]. To keep back the counsel of God, is as terrible; for he that takes away from the words of the prophecy of the book, God shall take away his part out of the book of life [Rev 22:19]. And truly, it has great caution in it to those that use the name of the Lord, to be well assured the Lord speaks, that they may not be found of the number of those that add to the words of the testimony of the prophecy which the Lord giveth them to bear; nor yet to mince or diminish the same, both being so very offensive to God.
