First Anniversary

So I finally got tired of people razzing me about my having given up on this blog, and I realized this evening at our dinner after Sunday evening worship that my first official post went up one year ago today.

And then it turned out it really wasn’t difficult at all to get my messed-up blogging software situation straightened out (for the 0 people who care, this meant reverting to an earlier version of Ruby, still installed on my machine, with which Hobix 0.3b would work). So here we are.

However, I haven’t had the time to go take pictures of the PK marquees, and I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to start doing that again regularly this spring. So the question is whether people would welcome random postings on other subjects, with perhaps the occasional sign pix, or whether I should just lapse into (Quaker?) silence for another year. Your comments, please.

In the meantime, I do have a sign picture for today, taken two weeks ago on Massachusetts Ave in Washington, DC. Crappy quality is due to its being taken with the (non-flash) Treo at night; that one can make anything out at all is due to someone else happening to take a shot of the sign at the same time.

Libian????

I guess the other thing one needs to know is that this part of Mass Ave is where a lot of the embassies of various foreign governments are located. So: what does it mean for this to have been the “Libian” embassy? Is it really a selling point for the property to have been formerly rented or owned by the Khadaffi regime? Or does the spelling indicate that this was not really the diplomatic headquarters of the Libyan Arab Republic? Who are the Libians, anyway? Perhaps a faithful remnant still loyal to King Idris?

And what has to happen in order for an embassy to pull up stakes and move? Was it just too many CIA-planted listening devices? Or maybe they were just getting gouged on the rent…

What floats this goat? _why, Hobix, of course!
