SUMMARY:Pastors Conference

These comics are masters of form and storytelling. And comics are doing innovative work in sharing their comedy online. In this conference\, Ashley M. Your preaching doesn’t have to be funny\, but it can be! \n\n\n\n\nRegister for 2023 Pastors Conference\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAshley M. Wilcox\n\n\n\nQuaker minister and author \n\n\n\nAshley M. SUMMARY:Rivers of Life
DESCRIPTION:Many Friends were unable to attend the Quaker Leadership Conference in April but wanted an opportunity to hear ideas\, make new connections\, and worship together. Our response is to offer an online version of the conference. And on the weekend of World Quaker Day! \n\n\n\nWe will have times of waiting worship\, worship through song\, and some reflections from Andy and Della. The core of the conference will be the “stream studies” offered by eight different Friends who provide insights into the future of Friends and propose pathways to life-giving ministry. After these presentations\, we will have a time of silent reflection followed by questions and conversations. These presentations will be the same ones presented at the in-person conference\, with a couple new ones mixed in. \n\n\n\nWe anticipate a generative time of new ideas\, new connections\, and rich worship across Quaker streams. Join us as we explore Rivers of Life among Friends and discern vital futures for ourselves as individuals\, meetings\, churches\, and organizations. \n\n\n\nMore info & registration (via eventbrite) \n\n\n\nFacilitators: Della Stanley-Green & Andy Stanton-Henry \n\n\n\nMusic: Nate Macy \n\n\n\nPresenters: Scott Wagoner\, Charity Sandstrom\, Emily Provance\, Tom Hamm\, Robin Mohr\, Julianna Smith\, Windy Cooler\, and Adria Gulizia

SUMMARY:QLC Sandbox
DESCRIPTION:Come and join other QLC Quaker Leadership Conference participants in a QLC Sandbox experience. As you might remember\, we ran out of time to play in the sandbox during the conference itself. We promised there would be another opportunity to do this. \n\n\n\nWhat is a QLC Sandbox? It’s an opportunity to play with important ideas. We’re wondering and imagining. The things we are playing with are important\, and they are so important that they deserve our childlike attention. \n\n\n\nThe sandbox parameters are simple: \n\n\n\n\nWe are not deciding or diagnosing anything\n\n\n\nWe are looking at an opportunity and playing with the ideas\n\n\n\nWe are saying things out loud to test them with others without fear of being shut down\n\n\n\nWe are testing our thoughts without the need to be sure or convinced of them yet\n\n\n\nAs always\, we ask us all to be good listeners and give at least a slight pause between speakers.\n\n\n\n\nLet’s play together in the sandbox!\n\n\n\nWe will join via Zoom and will divide into groups depending on interest. \n\n\n\nSandbox A\n\n\n\nLet’s wonder about equipping ourselves and our meetings for pastoral care \n\n\n\nSandbox B\n\n\n\nLet’s wonder about creating healthy\, spiritual\, intergenerational opportunities \n\n\n\nSandbox C\n\n\n\nLet’s wonder about working on shared concerns\, even when we have different beliefs \n\n\n\nSandbox D \n\n\n\nFree Play – bring your own questions of “wondering” to share with others \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Zoom lobby

SUMMARY:Fight Like Jesus book discussion with author Jason Porterfield
DESCRIPTION:What is the meaning of “holy week” for Friends and those committed to peacemaking? How should we worship\, preach\, teach\, and listen during this season? Whatever your views on the Bible or Christ\, you are invited into this important discussion.  \n\n\n\nTexas Friend Jason Porterfield will be discussing his book Fight Like Jesus as we consider our peace testimony at the close of Lent. We will meet online from 7:00-8:30 PM on March 21.  \n\n\n\nHe writes:  \n\n\n\n“We desperately need to recover the radical vision of peacemaking that Jesus embodied throughout Holy Week. And we urgently need to be trained in his way of making peace. So\, come. Let’s journey together day-by-day through Jesus’ final week and discover anew why he is called the Prince of Peace.” \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nRegister below and we will send you a Zoom link. \n\n\n\n \n HiddenEvent name(Required) Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Address(Required) \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n AfghanistanAlbaniaAlgeriaAmerican SamoaAndorraAngolaAnguillaAntarcticaAntigua and BarbudaArgentinaArmeniaArubaAustraliaAustriaAzerbaijanBahamasBahrainBangladeshBarbadosBelarusBelgiumBelizeBeninBermudaBhutanBoliviaBonaire\, Sint Eustatius and SabaBosnia and HerzegovinaBotswanaBouvet IslandBrazilBritish Indian Ocean TerritoryBrunei DarussalamBulgariaBurkina FasoBurundiCabo VerdeCambodiaCameroonCanadaCayman IslandsCentral African RepublicChadChileChinaChristmas IslandCocos IslandsColombiaComorosCongoCongo\, Democratic Republic of theCook IslandsCosta RicaCroatiaCubaCuraçaoCyprusCzechiaCôte d'IvoireDenmarkDjiboutiDominicaDominican RepublicEcuadorEgyptEl SalvadorEquatorial GuineaEritreaEstoniaEswatiniEthiopiaFalkland IslandsFaroe IslandsFijiFinlandFranceFrench GuianaFrench PolynesiaFrench Southern TerritoriesGabonGambiaGeorgiaGermanyGhanaGibraltarGreeceGreenlandGrenadaGuadeloupeGuamGuatemalaGuernseyGuineaGuinea-BissauGuyanaHaitiHeard Island and McDonald IslandsHoly SeeHondurasHong KongHungaryIcelandIndiaIndonesiaIranIraqIrelandIsle of ManIsraelItalyJamaicaJapanJerseyJordanKazakhstanKenyaKiribatiKorea\, Democratic People's Republic ofKorea\, Republic ofKuwaitKyrgyzstanLao People's Democratic RepublicLatviaLebanonLesothoLiberiaLibyaLiechtensteinLithuaniaLuxembourgMacaoMadagascarMalawiMalaysiaMaldivesMaliMaltaMarshall IslandsMartiniqueMauritaniaMauritiusMayotteMexicoMicronesiaMoldovaMonacoMongoliaMontenegroMontserratMoroccoMozambiqueMyanmarNamibiaNauruNepalNetherlandsNew CaledoniaNew ZealandNicaraguaNigerNigeriaNiueNorfolk IslandNorth MacedoniaNorthern Mariana IslandsNorwayOmanPakistanPalauPalestine\, State ofPanamaPapua New GuineaParaguayPeruPhilippinesPitcairnPolandPortugalPuerto RicoQatarRomaniaRussian FederationRwandaRéunionSaint BarthélemySaint Helena\, Ascension and Tristan da CunhaSaint Kitts and NevisSaint LuciaSaint MartinSaint Pierre and MiquelonSaint Vincent and the GrenadinesSamoaSan MarinoSao Tome and PrincipeSaudi ArabiaSenegalSerbiaSeychellesSierra LeoneSingaporeSint MaartenSlovakiaSloveniaSolomon IslandsSomaliaSouth AfricaSouth Georgia and the South Sandwich IslandsSouth SudanSpainSri LankaSudanSurinameSvalbard and Jan MayenSwedenSwitzerlandSyria Arab RepublicTaiwanTajikistanTanzania\, the United Republic ofThailandTimor-LesteTogoTokelauTongaTrinidad and TobagoTunisiaTurkmenistanTurks and Caicos IslandsTuvaluTürkiyeUS Minor Outlying IslandsUgandaUkraineUnited Arab EmiratesUnited KingdomUnited StatesUruguayUzbekistanVanuatuVenezuelaViet NamVirgin Islands\, BritishVirgin Islands\, U.S.Wallis and FutunaWestern SaharaYemenZambiaZimbabweÅland Islands\n Country\n \n \n Meeting or church affiliation Areas of interest for this discussionOptional\n \n I would like to receive occasional emails from QLC about upcoming events\n \n \n I would like to receive weekly Friendly Reminder blog reflections

SUMMARY:MLK Jr. Day Reflections with Colleen Wessel-McCoy
DESCRIPTION:“What are Your New Year’s Resolutions?”\n\n\n\nMartin Luther King Jr’s Last New Year Sermon\n\n\n\n\n\nIn January 1968\, King preached at Ebenezer Baptist Church about the coming year\, calling the congregation to biblically-informed new year resolutions\, like standing up to the modern-day Ceasars who seek their interests against the needs of the poor. Dr. King preached\, “I wish today that Christians would stop talking so much about religion and start doing something about it.” And he called for resistance to the draft\, saying\, “if you feel it in yourheart that this war is wrong\, unjust\, and objectionable\, don’t go and fight in it. Follow the path of Jesus Christ.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for MLK Jr. Day Reflections

Its existence is mysterious and complex\, generating misunderstandings and unawareness of its true purpose. The Spirit’s ambiguous nature opens the opportunity for the study to unearth the exciting truths that it holds. \n\n\n\nThe Spirit is present in our world in various forms. The lectures will examine the Spirit as experienced in light\, wind\, breath\, and vibration to help us uncover some of its aspects that invite us to work for climate justice\, racial justice\, and gender justice. The Holy Spirit has always been a mover and shaker of ideas and action. The Spirit’s presence moves\, stirs\, and changes us to become aware of the social ills in our world. \n\n\n\nThe different ways in which we reimagine the Holy Spirit can challenge some traditional assumptions in Christianity and provide a liberating vision that allows us to work for social justice. The work of the Holy Spirit stirs us to work toward new kinships with God that are sustainable\, just\, and whole.
