ESR Celebrates the Installation of Dean Matt Hisrich

Earlham School of Religion celebrated the installation of Matt Hisrich as Dean on Friday, September 27th. Hisrich is a 2008 graduate of ESR, and served as the Director of Recruitment and Admissions for  the school from 2012 until he became Acting Dean during the 2018-19 academic year.

The celebration was held in Nicarry chapel at Bethany Theological Seminary, in coordination with the 25th anniversary celebration of both our seminary partnership and their presence on the Richmond campus.

"Friday's service was an incredibly humbling and wonderful experience," shared Dean Hisrich. "I was deeply moved by the speakers and musicians who shared their gifts as part of the evening, as well as all of those who came to attend the installation and show their support for ESR at this important moment of transition and celebration. I am also grateful to Bethany Theological Seminary for hosting the service and reception as part of their celebration of 25 years on Earlham's campus."

Earlham and ESR President Anne Houtman provided the invocation and installation declaration. April Vanlonden, Registrar for ESR and Bethany, offered the message, But Have Not Love, and Jeff Bach of Elizabethtown College shared the message, Not so Philosophical Fragments. ESR grad Della Stanley-Green shared the benediction and musical offerings were provided by Doug Gwyn, Lois Jordan, Ruth Cutcher, and Charles Ramsey.

Thanks to the many community members, faculty, staff, alumni, and students who gathered together to make this such a meaningful event. You can view the photo album for the evening here.
