Trustees Training Series #2: Session 2, Dividing the Work & Good Communication
February 20 @ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Join us for a new trustees training series with new topics. We will gather on Zoom monthly on the third Thursday of January through May, 2025. Emily Provance will facilitate the series but each session will have a different guest speaker.
For our February training, we will discuss how to divide up responsibilities and practice good communication. What authority belongs to trustees? What authority belongs to the whole meeting or church or Quaker organization? How do we prevent communications gaps and hard feelings? How do we divide our responsibilities if the group has trustees, a finance committee, a property committee, a treasurer, and possibly even staff and a board of directors? How do we avoid stepping on each other’s toes, getting our work done reasonably efficiently while still relying on guidance from the Holy Spirit? Because these arrangements vary so much from one organization to another, this workshop will not attempt to provide any “correct” answers. Instead, we’ll focus on considering helpful principles. How do we maintain a functional and mutually respectful community?
